Brekkubaejarskoli was established in 1950 and now teaches 422 students from 1st to 10th grade. There are 51 teachers and the total staff count 87, including classroom helpers, specialist teachers and others. There is a department for children with special educational needs helping them participate in the school day. The school's guiding principle is that wellbeing is the foundation of learning and this reflects in everything we do. Every year we focus on two main topics for improving social skills. Four big assemblies are being held in the sportshall every school year. Students perform singing and dancing.The school emphasises environmental issues. Brekkubaejarskoli is an Ecoschool and was awarded the green flag in 2007.
