Student meeting Berlin in Crete May 2019

A year 6 class of 18 children from Berlin visited their partner class in Agios Nikolaos, Crete. The German children stayed in host families at their Greek partners, took part in lessons in school, created together posters for the flashmob dance and practiced and participated in the flashmob dance in Agios Nikolaos on the Friday of their stay. They learned about the Minoan culture and the leper colony on Spinalonga island. In groups, they documented their visit in a travel diary with iMovie and put a film together with comments in English, which was shared with all project partners. A week later the Greek children went to Berlin, and  spent some time together in a camp near the Wannsee, visiting Babelsberg film studios and the technical museum. In the second half of their stay, the Greek children, too, were hosted by their partners' families, topk part in lessons, and danced the flashmob dance together with all the children from Charlotte Salomon School.

Crete six graders  students travelled to Berlin together with three teachers for their Erasmus+ And Action project. They spent 4 days in a camping and 2 days in their German students' houses. They got to know the city but most importantly they met again with their friends from Germany. It surely was a lifetime experience!

In September 2019, a group of children from Iceland travelled to Berlin. They stayed at a camp  at Schwanenwerder Guesthouse, sharing cabins with the German children. From there they did lots of things: going to Wannsee Beach, visiting Filmpark Babelsberg, playing games, having a campfire and visiting Berlin Zoo and the Technical Museum. For three nights they stayed in host families with their German friends and met the other children and teachers children from Charlotte-Salomon-School. They made a video of their trip that can be seen here:

In the beginning of March 2020 – only a few days before the lockdown because of Corona in Iceland and Germany – 42 children from Berlin travelled to Iceland to visit Brekkubeaejarskóli in Akranes. There they stayed in host families and enjoyed the wonderful views of Iceland in the snow. They stayed with their partner classes in school, played games, went to the swimming pool and went on the Golden Route – visiting Geysirs, Þingvellir National Park and Gulfoss waterfall. Their film about their stay can be seen here:
